Xcel Gymnastics
The USA Gymnastics Xcel program was developed as an alternative competitive program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The program allows a wide choice in skills to meet requirements so selection may be based on an individual athlete’s strengths. The focus of the Xcel program is sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun with an emphasis on correct technique, form, and performance.
Time
The commitment to time in the gym is far less than the Junior Olympic Program. Xcel athletes may spend less time in the gym, but still get to enjoy competing and being part of a gymnastics team. Because the time commitment is much less for Xcel, it allows for students to also take part in other school activities and sports where the Junior Olympic program would not.
AFFORDABILITY
With less time in the gym, monthly tuition is lower. Xcel also attends fewer competitions which helps to keep expenses down.
CONFIDENCE
Each Xcel participant can create their routines based on the skills they know and are confident with.
The Emerge Academy Xcel Program consists of 5 levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire and is determined by the program director.
CURRENT PRACTICE SCHEDULE
- Monday: Silver*/Platinum/Diamond/
Sapphire 5:30 – 8:30pm - Tuesday: Gold/Platinum/Diamond 5:30 – 8:30pm
- Wednesday: Silver*/Gold/Platinum/Diamond/
Sapphire 5:30 – 8:30pm - Thursday: Gold/Platinum/Diamond/Sapphire 5:30 – 8:30pm
- Friday: Sapphire 5:00 – 8:00pm
*Silver gymnasts have the option to practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30pm. This is recommended for younger 1st year competitors. All other levels will follow the schedule above.
COMPETITIONS
- Meet Season runs from December to June depending on the schedule.
- Three competitions minimum per season.
- We highly recommend State as a final season meet.
Gold, Platinum, and Diamond gymnasts can travel to Regionals and the Xcel Championships if they choose depending on qualification scores being met.
